How To:  Use the Euro Symbol with MultiView 2000

FutureSoft is committed to supporting the euro in both its internal business systems and in its products. To this end it has been supported by MultiView 2000 since v4.1.

The euro and the terminal emulator

If you wish to reproduce the euro only on screen then select the MultiView 2000 Terminal font which is available by selecting Configure then Appearance. By clicking on the Font tab you will be able to select one of three type faces.

Printing the euro

The MultiView 2000 Terminal font will always support the euro for screen display, however if you wish to print, using the euro symbol, then you need to select one of the two other fonts available. At the same time you will also need to ensure that you have updated Microsoft fonts which are euro compliant.

These can be downloaded from the Microsoft Web site. Some older printers do not support the euro by default and you may need to alter your printer setup so that it does not use printer resident fonts. Check your printer manual to see if the euro is supported. If it is not, the options available will vary from printer to printer but look for ‘print fonts as graphics’ or something similar.

How to display the euro using text substitution.

In the Terminal Emulator of MultiView 2000 the euro can be displayed by using Text Substitution in the Rules Agent Editor. This enables an existing character to be changed. By inserting a character into the rules then asking the editor to change it using C = 8364, the resident character will be converted to the euro symbol. An example of this is shown below, using "_" to represent a space.
