How do I limit the number of sessions that a user can launch simultaneously?

Under the [System.Settings] section of the DCSE3270.INI file, make the following entry:

where x is the maximum number of sessions.

How many sessions can I have running at the same time?

There is a maximum numbers of 26 sessions, although you can change this to a lower number within the INI file, as detailed above.

What does the Answerback option do?

The answerback function is used by the host to identify the type of terminal. Specific responses are sent back as replies. DCSE can also pretend to be an older terminal (e.g., VT320 can pretend to be a VT220 model).

All of your profiles are stored separately in the DCSE3270.INI file. Only non default settings are stored.

How do I make a trace?

You can make a trace at any stage by pressing Ctrl-Shift-T. The default filename is C:\DCSE3270.TRC. You can also make EHLLAPI traces, which are stored as C:\EHLLAPI.TRC.

How many buttons can be used on the Toolbar?

There are a maximum of 40.

How do I map a key to launch a session profile?

You can customize a quick key to launch a session. Go into Settings : Quick Key Editor, and assign the Start Session function to the key. You must not forget to append the profile name after the function start session.

Does DCSE have light pen support?

DCSE 3.2 supports light pen functionality either with the mouse or through a keyboard mapping for the cursor select key.

Is DCSE fully compatible with VBA (Visual Basic for Applications)?

Does DCSE support LU pools?

Yes, provided that the TN3270 server supports them. DCSE allows the user to specify an LU Name under Session Profile: Host: LU Name. This name can either be a specific LU, in which case DCSE will connect only to that LU, or an LU pool name. If a pool name is specified, the TN3270 gateway service typically assigns the first available LU in the pool to the connection.

Can I specify the pool name that each user connects to?

If your SNA Server is configured correctly to support LUA pools, then you can specify the pool name in the LU name under the Host dialog. You can set the following in the DCSE3270.INI file:

LU Name=<poolname>

under the appropriate session to log directly into the pool.

Does DCSE work with other FTP programs?

Yes. Just specify the complete path to the third party FTP executable under Session Profile: Ext Progs: FTP Program. Now, when you select Transfer: FTP from the main menu, the FTP program you have specified will be launched.
