A trace file provides information on data flow and connection information. If a trace has been taken
properly, then it can be played back, which helps in diagnosing problems. Please note that traces may
slow down the performance of your machine due to the trace writing information to the trace file. |
| Making a trace |
Go to File : Trace Start
Enter in the appropriate file name.
Make sure that you start the trace before you connect the session.
If the problem is with a printer session, connect the printer sessions before the terminal sessions. |
| Playing a trace |
Copy the trace text file to LOOP.LOG in the root directory DE3270.
Copy L8XUX.LOG (from 06-19-92) to L8XUX.DLL in the root directory.
Launch Dynacomm Elite and configure the physical to be Token Ring (i.e.802.2).
Uncheck the DOS concurrency checkbox in the advanced setup for 802.2.
In the session setup, configure your LU address (“02” is usually a good guess).
Connect the session.
Press the {Enter} key to continue through the trace. Be careful not to press this too quickly,
as it may lock your box. |
| Stopping a trace |
To stop a trace, select the option “Trace Stop” under the File menu. |
| Notes |
Make sure that all of the required configuration information is known when diagnosing. |
