Where is the keyboard mapper?

You can launch the keyboard mapper by either selecting the fifth button on the level one toolbar or by going to the script menu and choosing to execute the file “KEYMAP.DCT”.

How can I change the keyboard mapping file (*.KBM) file that is automatically loaded when DynaComm is launched?

Look in the DYNASYNC.INI file and this will tell you which file is set up as the default

3)

How can I determine the current value of a key?

First, select the key. You can do this by either left clicking on the mouse or by choosing the appropriate key from the second drop down box within the Key Name section of the dialog box. This identifies the key that you are investigating. Then you must choose the state of the key. You can do this by checking the checkboxes labelled “Shift”, “Control” and “Alt” or by choosing the appropriate combination (e.g., Shift and Alt) from the first drop down box within the Key Names section. The mapping for this key (e.g., Ctrl K) will now be shown in the Key Mapping section of the dialog box.

4)

How can I remap a key to execute scripts or send strings?

Choose the key and the state that you wish to remap (more details above on how to do this). Then you can choose the mapping that you wish to associate with this. You have a choice of 5 mappings:

  • The default mapping.
  • Menu Items (e.g., File : Save).
  • Executing a script. (The DCT files shown are those stored within your DCP directory.)

  • Sending a string. (This can be just plain text or a hexidecimal value. There is a checkbox adjacent to this option if you wish to send hex codes.)
  • Launch an Application. (Click on one of the application numbers e.g. Application 1, and then click on add. You will then be shown a list of your executable files. You can pick executables from any directory that you have access to. When you accept this, the application number that you chose is now replaced with the directory and filename of the chosen executable.)

5)

If I chose to edit an existing keyboard mapping, can I save the changes to another keyboard map, or does it automatically save the changes to the file I used?

You can click on the new button and then create a filename for this mapping. You then have a copy of the default mapping under a different name. Any subsequent changes you make after doing this you can save to your new keyboard map file.
