These notes contain last-minute product information that may affect your use of the product. Blocking messages are displayed on the user screen when an Internet request is denied by DynaComm i:filter. This readme provides detailed information for using the sample blocking messages provided with the product. ======================================================================== Contents This document contains the following sections: 1.0 Blocking Messages Overview 2.0 Modifying Blocking Messages 3.0 Sample Blocking Messages 4.0 Technical Support ======================================================================== 1.0 Blocking Messages Overview Blocking messages are displayed when a user makes a request that is denied by the rules/ruleset in effect for the individual Monitor. One blocking message is associated with each of the four standard/default protocols. Default blocking messages are established in DynaComm i:filter and are accessed through on the Blocking Message tab on the Protocol Properties dialog. Blocking messages can include HTML formatting and hyperlinks. However, the total maximum size for the message cannot exceed 1,454 bytes. ======================================================================== 2.0 Modifying Blocking Messages Default blocking messages can be modified in several different ways. The message can be updated through the Blocking Message tab where a new file with a blocking message can be selected or a redirect statement can be set up to send the browser to an HTML page for messages that exceed the maximum number of bytes. ======================================================================== 3.0 Sample Blocking Messages Sample blocking messages can be found in the DynaComm i:filter\Blocking Messages folder. These messages range from examples that include only one file to advanced examples that include several files. Examples that include multiple files must be set up in a particular manner. Four examples are applicable to any protocol in any situation. These include the examples found in the following folders: a. DynaComm i:filter\Blocking Messages\Example 1 b. DynaComm i:filter\Blocking Messages\Example 2 c. DynaComm i:filter\Blocking Messages\Example 3 d. DynaComm i:filter\Blocking Messages\Example 4 Two examples are provided specifically for User Agent. (NOTE: This examples are not applicable in ISA Server Monitor installations.) These include the examples found in the following folders: a. DynaComm i:filter\Blocking Messages\User Agent Example 1 b. DynaComm i:filter\Blocking Messages\User Agent Example 2 Detailed instructions for using the files are provided in the DynaComm i:filter Online Reference which is accessed through the Management Console. To access these instructions, select Help > Help to open the Help system. 1 For the general examples, in the Help system Table of Contents open Configuration Topics > Protocols > Blocking Message Examples. 2 For the User Agent examples, in the Help system Table of Contents open Understanding DynaComm i:filter > User Agent > User Agent Blocking Messages.
