Scalability

DCS 9 offers unparalleled scalability in the host access connectivity marketplace. Control and usage of DCS 9 can be placed completely in the hands of the administrator, end user or both—depending upon access rights given by the administrator. Additionally, the administrator can centrally control the location of user files (either on the server or individual PCs) and all host access. Web-to-Host Connectivity

DCS 9 session files are ActiveX documents and provide in-place activation within a web browser. This ActiveX support facilitates full integration of IBM, HP, Tandem, Digital, and UNIX host applications into Internet, intranet and extranet web pages. By establishing a hyperlink in a web page that loads a centrally located session file, users can replace tedious host logon procedures with a single click. Full DCS 9 functionality is also available within a web browser and includes, but is not limited to, file transfer support, full printing capabilities, cut-and-paste functionality, keyboard mapping, right mouse button support and IntelliMouse support. Multiple host and multiple session support are also included. Customization and application automation can be achieved utilizing the DCS 9 scripting language—which is available to sessions open in the web browser.

Major features include:

  • Browser-based access to existing applications

  • AutoConnect on session open or session activation

  • Embedded or full screen display within Internet Explorer 4.0 or greater

  • Embedding of session document within Netscape Navigator 4.02 or greater

Customization Tools

With its menu editor, toolbar editor, attribute mapper, keyboard mapper and scripting language, all facets of DCS 9 can be customized to fit any enterprise environment. This allows seamless integration and eliminates the need to change the environment to fit the application.

Event-Driven Scripting

DCS 9 includes the only event-driven scripting language in the marketplace. It provides consistent scripting across all emulations, affords users unrivaled application automation and allows extensive customization of the interface. In addition to the proprietary scripting language, DCS 9 offers support for Visual Basic 5.0. This allows a user to take full advantage of the power and flexibility of both environments.

Object-Oriented Architecture

DCS 9 is based on an extensible object-oriented architecture which offers a high degree of modularity and complete OLE compliance, including both container and server. This efficient architecture enables multiple host connections from a single instance of the application, while maintaining outstanding performance.
