DynaComm Connectivity Series® for Windows® CE (DCS/CE) version 3.0 further expands our customers’ choice of computing platforms and is the first product of its kind powerful enough to offer multiple host connectivity on handheld devices and Windows-based Terminals. DCS/CE brings enterprise application access to the world of Windows CE-powered devices. DCS⁄CE supports devices utilizing the MIPS, SH3, SH4, StrongARM and Intel processors. Additional pocessors will be added as the marketplace dictates.

Handheld PCs

DCS/CE combines the power of the enterprise with the flexibility required by mobile computing professionals. DCS/CE supports Windows CE 2.11 and greater residing on handheld PCs for remote access to all major host systems including IBM, Tandem, HP, Digital and UNIX.

DCS/CE brings handheld devices into the mainstream of enterprise computing by allowing access to host-based systems. No longer just a device for email or maintaining a calendar, handheld devices utilizing DCS/CE become true computing appliances that extend the reach and accessibility of enterprise applications. Businesses now have a new way to deploy mission-critical applications as they seek new competitive advantages. This offering will provide seamless connectivity to anyone traveling or working from remote locations.

Windows-based Terminals

A critical component of Microsoft’s Windows® NT™ Server, Terminal Server Edition (Terminal Server) strategy is support for Windows CE-powered devices called Windows-based Terminals (WBTs). These thin client devices utilize Windows CE in conjunction with Microsoft’s Terminal Server product offering. DCS/CE enables these devices to make direct host connections—independent of the server—for enterprise application access while simultaneously utilizing server-based applications. DCS/CE running on a WBT creates, in effect, a universal low-cost terminal that provides connectivity to a wide variety of host systems—further reducing the enterprise’s capital investment.

For customers who want a version of DCS/CE to run on their Windows-based Terminal, please contact a FutureSoft Business Development Manager at (800) 989-8908 or by e-mail. As each WBT manufacturer creates their own version of Windows CE, it is important to discuss the specific configuration of the operating system so we can ensure that the version of DCS/CE we provide is compatible with your specific device.
