Internet Filter Release Enhances User Management

FutureSoft, Inc., the Houston-based maker of the DynaComm i:series Enterprise Content Security software family, today announced the launch of DynaComm i:filter Version 5.0. This new version of FutureSoft’s Enterprise Internet filter further extends the product’s capabilities in the area of integration and ease of administration for large organizations. Several new features provide administrators with additional user management options, designed to enhance identification and tracking of Web browsing activities.

Among these is the capability to use existing Domain Controllers to identify and track users as they log in and out of the domain. This provides the benefit of tracking user activity without the need to install a PC-based User Agent. DynaComm i:filter supports both approaches, giving administrators the flexibility to identify and manage user activity according to their preference.

Also included in this release is the ability to assign browse-time quotas to groups or individuals. By assigning a browse-time quota, administrators can control exactly how much non-work Web browsing a user is allowed to do. Organizations can therefore provide a degree of Web-surfing freedom to their employees, while ensuring the overall productivity gains of a Web filter are preserved.

DynaComm i:filter Version 5.0 also includes a number of other new capabilities, such as the ability to filter portions of a network by IP range, which is especially useful in very large network environments. FutureSoft has also added additional features to ease sharing of tasks between administrators and rapid domain look-ups from the management console.
