FutureSoft Enhances Spam and E-mail Filtering Solution for NHS Security Needs

FutureSoft, Inc., the enterprise content security specialists, today announced that version 4.0 of its spam and e-mail filtering solution, DynaComm i:mail, now includes e-SMTP authentication functionality in response to security additions to the NHS's messaging network. The privately managed network linking all NHS hospitals and health service providers, NHSnet, is being upgraded from the SMTP protocol to e-SMTP (Extended Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) for all future e-mail delivery.

All Internet traffic to and from NHS sites is routed through NHSnet, providing secure server authentication for all e-mails, and protection against message spoofing and unauthorised access to e-mail. e-SMTP authentication will become mandatory for any NHS organisation connecting to NHSnet to transfer email.

The new version also includes significant anti-spam enhancements designed to dramatically reduce the quantity of unwanted e-mail arriving at users’ inboxes. In addition to blacklist support, content filtering and heuristic analysis techniques, DynaComm i:mail version 4.0 ships with a full featured, and pre-trained Bayesian analyser, that uses statistical theory to predict whether or not a particular mail message is spam. The analyser can be trained to the profile of mail received by an individual enterprise and is highly effective at filtering spam while minimising ‘false positives’ of legitimate e-mail.
