FutureSoft Releases Solution to SoBig.F Virus Attacks on Mail Servers

FutureSoft Inc., the Houston-based manufacturer of the DynaComm i:series Enterprise Content Security software family, today announced a solution for organizations struggling with the SoBig.F virus attack.

This virus outbreak is bringing many corporate e-mail servers to their knees in what is effectively a massive, distributed denial of service attack. Even with updated virus scanners, many corporate mail servers are simply overwhelmed trying to process messages from the vast number of PCs already infected with the virus.

The update to DynaComm i:mail, FutureSoft’s e-mail filtering solution, uses heuristic connection-based filtering to prevent the infected e-mail from ever reaching a mail server, effectively silencing the growing roar of virus-laden e-mails. Engineers at FutureSoft examined how the virus-infected mail attempts to connect to mail servers and rapidly developed an update designed to stop infected mail before it ever reaches the server itself.
